A former district judge and a couple of businessmen are among the candidates nominated by the Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM), in its first list of nominees, for three Lok Sabha constituencies in the central region.
The party has nominated its State executive committee member K. Guruviah, for the Nagapattinam (reserved) constituency. Mr. Guruviah is a retired district judge with more than 35 years of experience in the field of law. He retired from service in 2018, according to a party note.
The party has nominated, V. Ananda Raja, a businessman, with interests in garments and finance, for the Tiruchi constituency. Mr. Ananda Raja is also said to have taken up various social welfare initiatives.
Another businessman, M. Rifayudeen, will contest from the Mayiladuthurai constituency. He has been part of the ‘Akila Indiya Kamal Haasan Narpani Iyakkam’ and was the district in-charge of Nagapattinam, the party said.
