MLA's bail application rejected

The Principal District and Sessions Court here on Friday turned down bail applications of DMK MLA representing the Lalgudi Assembly constituency A. Soundarapandian, former DMK MLA Anbil Periyasamy and Sundarajalu, owner of a textile retail outlet, who were arrested in a land grabbing case in the city recently.

The Principal District and Sessions Judge B.Gokuldas also dismissed the anticipatory bail application of Tamil Selvan, cited as an accused in the case. However, the Judge granted bail to Mamundi.

The City Crime Branch had arrested nine out of the 11 persons cited as accused in the land grabbing case till now, including former State Transport Minister K.N. Nehru; his brother K.N. Ramajayam; DMK MLA Soundarapandian, Deputy Mayor M. Anbazhagan and former DMK MLA Anbil Periyasamy. Orders on the bail applications of Mr. Nehru, Anbazhagan, Ramajayam, DMK functionary Kudamuritti Sekar and Salai Sherif will be pronounced on September 13 by the same court. While Mr. Nehru and Periyasamy are lodged in Cuddalore Central Prison, Soundarapandian is in the Tiruchi Central Prison and Ramajayam in Palayamkottai Central Prison.
