Meet on monitoring sale of liquor

The Expenditure Observer for the Srirangam byelection, Sridhar Dora, has instructed that all liquor shops run by the Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (Tasmac) in Srirangam constituency should maintain proper registers of daily stock position. Shops where sales exceed the normal daily average should be monitored closely. The 22 Tasmac shops in the constituency should not sell liquor in bulk. They should not entertain concessional slips or tokens issued by anybody. Sales personnel violating the rules would be suspended under election rules. All liquor shops and bars in the constituency should be strictly closed by 10 p.m., he said speaking at a consultative meeting on monitoring the sale of liquor in the constituency here on Thursday. Smuggling of other State liquor should be prevented through round-the-clock checks by police at all check-posts. The godowns, where liquor is stored, will be monitored through closed circuit television cameras, he said. Collector K.S.Palanisamy attended the meeting.
