With the society plagued by social evils, it was imperative to propagate good ideals and moral values among the people today, Krishnammal Jagannathan, Alternate Nobel Prize winner observed on Saturday. The principles and ideals of Mahatma Gandhi should be followed, the veteran Gandhian activist and recipient of Opus Prize said while speaking at the 11th annual day celebration of Swastika Self Improvement Centre in the city.
It is essential to get rid of the negative thoughts as this would also pave way for a harmonious society free from social evils, she said. All sections of the society should work steadfast to eradicate the anti-social elements plaguing the society, she said adding that one way was through propagation of good ideals and moral values.
She also said that she was inspired by Mahatma Gandhi and Acharya Vinobha Bhave to work for the uplift of the landless poor. She gave away prizes to students who showcased their talents in various cultural events.
