Land to be provided for PHC in Thottiyam

Overhead tank to come up at Murungai

Steps would be taken to provide land for the construction of a building for the primary health centre at Murungai village in Thottiyam taluk, Collector Jayashree Muralidharan said here on Tuesday.

Speaking at a mass contact programme at the village, Ms.Muralidharan also assured the villages that an overhead drinking water tank would be built at the village at a cost of Rs.3lakh. Responding to representations made by the villagers, she also promised to introduce a bus service between Mohanur to Musiri via Murungai.

Stating that Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has instructed officers to accord priority to the agriculture sector, the Collector appealed to the farmers to adopt the system of rice intensification technique to double their productivity. She also called upon the villagers, especially women, to utilise the welfare schemes implemented through various government departments.

Ms.Muralidharan distributed welfare assistance worth Rs.30 lakh to 334 beneficiaries on the occasion. Action has been initiated on the 378 petitions received at the programme. An exhibition on government welfare schemes and development programmes were also organised as part of the mass contact programme. Senior officials also explained procedures for availing government assistance under various schemes.
