A five-day INSPIRE (Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research) science camp for schoolchildren will be held at the Nehru Memorial College at Puthanampatti in the district from November 16 to 20.
This the second INSPIRE camp to be held at the college this year. The residential camp, sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology, aims at inculcating scientific temper among students. The camp would include brainstorming sessions with scholars and scientists; lectures, discussions, and experiments.
The selected candidates would be provided free boarding and lodging and travel allowance.
Meritorious students who are now pursuing class 11 throughout the State will be exposed to a stimulating scientific environment during the camp. Students who have secured 94.2 per cent aggregate marks or above (A1 grade for CBSE and 95 per cent for ICSE) and now pursuing class 11 with science are eligible to apply.
The camp will have an intake of 150 students.
