On the heels of launching its Alumni Chapter in Chennai, Indian Institute of Management - Tiruchi has plans to move its Chennai campus from the rented building at Ekkattuthangal to a permanent location in the city.

The Chennai campus was started to offer PGPBM programme for grooming working executives who aspire to move into senior leadership roles.

“We are exploring two options: to identify already constructed buildings of Central or State Governments or find a suitable location where students could reach easily for creation of own infrastructure,” Director of IIM-Tiruchi Bhimaraya Metri said.

Spread over 4,000 sq ft, the rented space of the Chennai centre accommodates classrooms, a computer lab, a conference room and a library. The idea is to launch a two-year MBA programme in Business Analytics once the permanent campus is readied, Prof. Metri said.

Executives with minimum three years work experience and a good academic background are being admitted into the PGPBM programme. Classes are being conducted on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

The candidates are enrolled into the 24-month programme with an option to complete in 21 months. The curriculum is completely aligned with the two year full-time Post Graduate Programme being offered at Tiruchi, with 18 core courses, 15 elective courses and one industry project. IIM Tiruchi is awaiting international accreditation from Association of MBAs (AMBA) - a global organisation focussing primarily on international business school accreditation and membership.

The accreditation will help the institution to partner with universities of global repute.

IIM Tiruchi already partners with IAE Graduate School of Management, Marseille, France, and a few other global institutions for students exchange, faculty exchange and joint research by the faculty members.
