Officials of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti Corruption (DVAC) arrested K. Balachandran, an Assistant Executive Engineer of Tangedco and a Commercial Inspector on graft charge here on Friday based on a complaint from Kumar of Tiruverumbur, a builder. Sources said he had demanded ₹ 20,000 when Kumar applied for a new electricity connection for a house he was constructing for sale.
Officials arrested him when he received the bribe and handed it over to the Commercial Inspector S. Veera Saravanaperumal. The bribe was seized and some documents were confiscated from Balachandran. The two officials were arrested.
