Gold jewels, cash stolen

Nachiyarkovil police are investigating a house break-in reported at Rajameena Nagar, Sakkottai, near Kumbakonam on Friday. Gold jewellery and cash were reported stolen.

The incident took place at the house of Tholkappian, 55, serving as assistant executive engineer in the electricity board, Pattukottai, and his wife, Suganthi,49, serving as a government school teacher at Paruthichery near Sakkottai.

The couple left their home on March 8 to Chennai and when Suganthi came back to Rajameena Nagar early on Friday, she found the front door of their house broke open and the almirahs ransacked.

In a complaint lodged with Nachiyarkovil police, the couple said 50 sovereigns of gold jewellery and cash ₹1 lakh were stolen from the house.
