Environment competition

An environment competition on “Our earth-our future” was jointly organised by the Department of Environment, School Education Department, and Voice Trust. One hundred and fifty students and 75 teachers from National Green Corps and Eco Club Schools of Tiruchi-Musiri-Lalgudi Educational district took part in the competitions held at Bishop Heber Higher Secondary School. Exhibits on the main theme of saving water through closing taps after use, recycling of domestic wastes, tree planting, herbal garden, non-plastic bags, and even organic farming were put up. Osai Kalidasan from Coimbatore explained the environment hazards affecting the daily life. A.P. Sivakumar, District Library Officer, showed the students around the District Central Library. M. Sekaran, president, K.C. Neelamegam, secretary, and K.Sivagurunathan, treasurer of Thanneer judged the exhibits. Eighteen students were given special prizes.
