The Tiruchi District Cooperative Milk Producers Union (Aavin) has decided to expedite disbursal of payments to milk producers after every 10-day cycle. The decision has been made feasible following the sanction of advance by the State government towards disbursal of payment pending dues to milk producers immediately.

Grant of advance

The State government had advanced Rs.49.65 crore to the Tamil Nadu Cooperative Milk Producers Federation and of this Rs.6.30 crore was released for the Tiruchi union. The money was handed over to the union officials by Minister for Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development N. R. Sivapathi in Chennai recently.

Fund utilisation

Utilising the fund, the union has started disbursing dues to about 47,150 milk producers from Tiruchi, Perambalur, Karur and Ariyalur districts for the milk supplied by them till July 10. Jayashree Muralidharan, Collector and Special Officer, Aavin, Tiruchi, inaugurated the exercise by handing over the cheques to milk producers from Samayapuram, Ammapatti, Singalanathapuram, Karukudi and Esanai cooperative societies.

Of the total dues, Rs.2.48 crore would be disbursed to 16,350 milk producers in Tiruchi district; Rs.2.38 crore to 16,000 producers in Perambalur district; Rs.77 lakh to 6,700 producers in Karur district and Rs.67 lakh to 8,100 producers in Ariyalur district.

According to Aavin officials, with the clearing of this backlog, disbursal of payments to milk producers would be regularised.

For every 10-day cycle, the payments would be made within three days henceforth, they said.
