CPI, BJP stage agitations over power cuts

Cadre of Communist Party of India (CPI) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged separate demonstrations here on Monday condemning power cuts.

The stir by CPI members near Khadi Kraft was led by the party's city unit committee member G.R.Saravanan. The party's former district secretary M. Selvaraj and city secretary K. Suresh were among those who participated in the demonstration.

The party also condemned the State government for providing uninterrupted power supply to multinational companies while putting in force load shedding for the general public. The demonstration by BJP members was held near Marakadai.
