S. Ranganathan, general secretary of the Cauvery Delta Farmers’ Welfare Association, on Monday called upon the court to make it clear that the Centre should abide by recommendations made by the tribunal on the implementation mechanism.

Emphasising that the tribunal had elaborately dealt with the issue of how its order should be carried out, Mr. Ranganathan said it had suggested the establishment of the Cauvery Management Board and the Cauvery Water Regulation Committee.

Given the confusion in certain quarters over the terms “scheme” and “Cauvery Management Board,” the court’s reiteration of the legal position had become imperative.
