Cement loading rises in Tiruchi railway division last fiscal

Divisional Railway Manager, Tiruchi, Manish Agarwal on Tuesday conducted a meeting here with officials of various private cement companies in neighbouring Ariyalur district as cement loading in the division witnessed an increase during the previous financial year. 

Representatives from Dalmia Cements Bharat Limited, Dalmiapuram and Ariyalur plants, Ramco Cements, Ariyalur and Ichchangadu plants, TANCEM, Ariyalur, Chettinad Cements Corporation Limited, Sillakudi and India Cements, Ichchangadu plant attending the meeting in which the Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Senior Divisional Operating Manager, Senior Divisional Finance Manager and other railway officials participated.  

A press release from the Tiruchi Railway Division said cement traffic, which was 0.378 million tonnes in 2020-21, increased to 0.819 million tonnes in 2021-22. Correspondingly, revenue generated rose from ₹24.50 crore in 2020-21 to ₹57.85 crore in 2021-22. During the meeting it was discussed to improve cement loading in the current financial year by up to 20%. 

The release further said a new customer M/s. Sucden India Private Limited had loaded 1,341 tonnes of sugar from Ariyalur to Kakinada in 21 wagons resulting in earnings of ₹15. 86 lakhs to the railways.
