Canara Bank donates fund for inverter

Women play a crucial role in shaping a family and, by extension, the society at large. Women have a greater responsibility and equal opportunity should be given to them without discrimination, said R.Sampath Kumar, Deputy General Manager, Canara Bank.

Speaking at a function to mark the celebration of International Women's Day organised by the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development for Women, an exclusive wing formed by the bank to promote income-generation activities among women, and Human Resources unit of the bank, at the Circle Office here on Thursday, he explained the various women-centric programmes being implemented through the centre.

Jayashree Muralidharan, Collector, referred to the multiple roles being played by women in structuring individuals and moulding the country. She specifically appealed to the women employees of the bank to take their maximum efforts for prompt service.

C.Saraswathi, honorary secretary of Tiruchi Seva Sangam, offered felicitations. Manjunath, Chief Manager, Canara Bank, Puthur, spoke.

Earlier, the Collector handed over a cheque for the purchase of inverter donated by the bank to Nagammai Children Home. She also honoured a group of ten women entrepreneurs in recognition of their achievement. An exhibition on the products made by the SHGs was organised as part of the celebrations.
