Cameras in Srirangam

August 19, 2015 12:00 am | Updated March 29, 2016 04:07 pm IST - TIRUCHI:

Even as the camera-aided surveillance system has virtually become dysfunctional, police sources say there were plans to install a host of cameras at key public locations in the Srirangam range.

The city police have identified 26 spots in Srirangam range for installing the cameras from the MP’s Local Area Development Scheme, said police sources.

The cameras would be installed in Srirangam range and extended to other ranges in due course of time, said the sources. The City Police accounts for four ranges — Srirangam, Cantonment, Fort, and Golden Rock.
