Fifty-eight teams have been formed to enforce the model code of conduct in Aravakurichi, where a by-poll has been scheduled for May 19.
There are 36 flying squads among the teams formed by District Election Officer and Collector T. Anbalagan.
Divided into three groups, they will work on shift basis. Besides monitoring the activities of candidates and political parties in the constituency, the flying squads and static surveillance teams will also conduct checks in Karur, Krishnarayapuram and Kulithalai constituencies on leads.
Presiding over a meeting with the teams, Mr. Anbalagan on Tuesday said a total of 200 officials had been drafted in teams to enforce the model code of conduct. Nine video surveillance teams had been formed. It was important for them to execute their task impartially and not give room for complaints.
Twenty-one check posts had been set up at various entry points to the constituency. Officials and police manning them had been instructed to intensify vehicle check to monitor movement of cash, the Collector added.
