Burglars arrested

A special team of Srirangam police on Thursday arrested two persons involved in several burglaries in Srirangam and recovered stolen gold jewellery weighing 46 sovereigns. The team also recovered stolen silver wares weighing one-and-half kilograms and artificial jewellery from V. Krishnan (33) and P. Vijayan (32) of Srirangam. A police press release here said a special team was constituted following a slew of burglaries in Srirangam police station limits. While conducting vehicle checks on Thursday, a police team intercepted them and on enquiry the duo confessed to their crimes, the release said. The value of the stolen property was estimated to be Rs. 12 lakh. — Special Correspondent
