Training

The Department of Women’s Studies, Bharathidasan University, in association with the ILFS-CDI Ltd will conduct a training programme in readymade garment manufacturing with financial assistance from the Union Textiles Ministry. The training programme would be open to persons above the age of 18 both from rural and urban areas. The 30-day training would be held on the university campus and is being conducted every month. Interested candidates can register their names with the university. Those interested can dial 0431-2333223/9944632809/9842218555 between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., the release added.

Hostel admission

Applications have been invited for admissions to the students hostels run by the Adi Dravida and Tribal Welfare Department in the district. Collector K.S. Palanisamy, in a press release, said admissions are open for the 53 students’ hostels run by the department in the district. Of these, 48 hostels were for schoolchildren, two were men’s hostels for college students, one for college girls, one for ITI students, and one for post-graduate students. Boarding and lodging for the students would be free at the hostels. Applications can be had from the hostel wardens. Filled-in applications should be submitted to be respective wardens. The last date for submission of applications for school students is June 19 and for college students is July 14, the release said.

Special camps under the Assured Maximum Service to Marginalised People in All Villages (AMMA) Scheme will be held at the following places in the district on Friday: Ukkadai Ariyamangalam, Pirattiyur (East), Panayakurichi,Ariyavur, Madhampatti, Ammachathram, Alambakkam, Ulunthankudi, Komangalam, Kombai and Appananallur.
