Inter-group competition for Thal Sainik Camp for boys held

The Tiruchi NCC Group emerged overall champions in the Inter-group competition for the Thal Sainik Camp for Boys held at Madurai recently. Senior and Junior Division NCC cadets from Madras ‘A', Madras ‘B', Puducherry, Tiruchi, Madurai and Coimbatore NCC groups took part in the 10-day camp that was conducted from July 10 to 19 to select cadets to represent the Tamil Nadu NCC Directorate in the all-India Thal Sainik Camp for Boys to be held at New Delhi later this year.

A total number of 15 Senior Division and five Junior Division cadets represented the Tiruchi NCC Group in the Inter-group competition which featured various contests including obstacle course, advance shooting, line area, judging distance and field signalling, all wing shooting and tent pitching.

The Tiruchi Group emerged winners in the judging distance and field signalling and line area competitions, and runner up in advance shooting, obstacle course, all wing shooting, health and hygiene and tent pitching.Cadet S. Samraj of 2 TN Armoured Squadron NCC, Tiruchi and Cadet V. Ayyanan of 9 TN Battalion NCC, Karaikudi won individual gold medals in the obstacle and judging distance and field signalling contests respectively. The championship trophy was presented to the Tiruchi group. A function was organised here on Tuesday to felicitate the cadets of Tiruchi Group who participated in the contest .
