The Tamil Nadu NCC Directorate emerged on top in the all-India Thal Sainik Camp (TSC) for Girls held at New Delhi last month. This is the second consecutive year that the Tamil Nadu NCC Directorate has come first in the TSC for Girls in which cadets from 17 NCC Directorates across the country took part.
Of the 40 NCC girl cadets who represented the Tamil Nadu Directorate in the 10-day camp, 11 were from the 4 TN Girls Battalion NCC, Tiruchi. The camp featured competitions in Firing, Obstacle, Map Reading, Tent Pitching, Line Layout and Health & Hygiene events.
The cadets from Tamil Nadu Directorate led by Sergeant Revathi of Jamal Mohamed College, Tiruchi came first in Map Reading, Tent Pitching and Line Layout competitions. The Additional Director General (B), NCC, New Delhi Major General Ashok Sinha presented a trophy to Sergeant Revathi at a function held at New Delhi.
The girl cadets from Tiruchi were from Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College, Holy Cross College, Jamal Mohamed College, Shrimathi Indira Gandhi College, Cauvery College, St. Joseph Anglo Indian School and St. Annes School. The Officiating Group Commander, NCC Group, Tiruchi Colonel K. Ashokan appreciated the feat of the girl cadets at a function organised in the city a few days ago to felicitate them.
