The Income Tax Department has opened special counters for receipt of returns, for the assessment year 2010-11 (for the duration of financial year from April 1, 2009 to March 31, 2010), from July 28 to 31 at its offices The counters have been opened in Tiruchi, Karur, Pudukkottai, Thanjavur, Kumbakonam, Nagapattinam, Salem, Namakkal, Krishnagiri and Hosur that are under the administrative control of the Chief Commissioner of Income-Tax, Tiruchi.
In a press release, B. Lakshminarayanan, Assistant Commissioner of Income Tax (Head Quarters and Administration), said that the counters will function from 9.15 a.m. to 5.45 p.m., on working days and between 10.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m. on Saturday.
