A painting competition on ‘A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’ organised to mark the first death anniversary of the former President, by Rotary Club of Tiruchi, evoked overwhelming response from students.

The contest was organised to identify the talents of students of Standards III, IV and V, and a total of 337 students turned up, projecting him in different shapes.

Students vied with one another in projecting the image of the former President. One of them had drawn at least four images, in different forms, of the late Abdul Kalam. R. Panchanadhan, Director, Talent Consultancy, Tiruchi, who coordinated the programme, said that an interactive session was held later in which students described the reason for choosing the late Abdul Kalam as their role model. They said that the late Kalam stood above caste or creed based differences.

B. Maheshkumar, Project Director, S. Appanraj, president of the club and G.R.K. Raju, secretary, offered felicitations.
