The Indian Welding Society (IWS), a professional body devoted for the cause of welding and allied areas and the Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services (IL&FS) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to bridge the gaps in skill availability and skill needs among the industrial work force in the country.

Under the MoU signed here on Saturday, the IL&FS will train youth in engineering skills for the larger benefit of engineering and fabrication industries besides improving the employability of the poor unemployed youth in a bid to improve their living standards.

As a knowledge partner, the IWS will offer customized, client-specific training programmes in the engineering sector, including training in skills required for welding & related technologies.

Some of the training modules identified are: Welding (Arc, TIG and MIG) CNC gas cutting operation, welding fabricator (Fitting) and Train the Trainer course (for all trades).

A press release issued here said the two organisations have joined hands to address the issue of shortage in qualified and skilled manpower in the engineering sector particularly in the welding and related technologies.
