Members of Communist Party of India -Marxist (CPI-M), staged a demonstration near the railway station here on Wednesday condemning the judgement given by the Magistrate Court in the Bhopal gas tragedy case.

They described the judgement as an “eye wash” and has not provided relief to the kin of the victims.

Besides prolonging the case for many years, the judgement (two years imprisonment to the accused) given is not sufficient. Moreover, Warren Anderson, International Chaimarn of the Union Carbide Corpoartion has not been punished.

The Government should take steps to take the case to higher courts and punish the guilty with stringent punishment particularly Warren Anderson, they said.

Senthil Kumar, town secretary, led the agitation. District council members Jeevakumar and Paramasivam participated in the demonstration.
