Boy beaten by teacher hospitalised

PERAMBALUR: A 10th standard student of an aided school near here was allegedly beaten by a teacher for reportedly coming late to the institution on Thursday.

The boy, K. Vijay, was admitted to Perambalur Government Hospital on Friday for treatment. Police said the boy, a resident of Pandagapadi village, reportedly came late to the school on Thursday. The class teacher is said to have chided and caned the boy.

The police conducted an inquiry into the incident. A case is yet to be registered.
