87 saplings planted

As many as 87 saplings were planted to mark the birth anniversary of foremr President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam on the premises of Tuticorin Thermal Power Station here on Sunday, says Chief Engineer of TTPS, K. Natarajan.

He said that fourth and fifth unit, each with 210 MW capacity, are in service. Three other units have been kept on standby based on instructions from the Load Despatch Centre. Wind power generation was up around 2,500 MW in morning hours and power consumption declined to some extent in the wake of rain, he said.
