The doctors who had conducted the post-mortem later confirmed through chemical examination that the victim had been subjected to repeated sexual assault.

The accused allegedly revealed to the police that he had assaulted the victim a short while before she had committed suicide by jumping in a well in her courtyard.

Flees locality

Following the incident, John managed to flee from the locality and later managed to find work in the Beypore and Munambam fishing harbours. Sensing that the investigating team was hot on his trail, he fled from the region and later shifted base to Kanyakumari where he has been working in a fishing boat until his arrest.
