Woman’s death: husband in custody

June 12, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:42 am IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

A man was taken into custody by the Parassala police on Thursday after neighbours raised suspicions over the manner in which his wife died on Wednesday.

The police said Adona, 37, was suffering from mental illness. On Wednesday, she turned violent, following which her husband Silvapichai, 47, and their sons had to tie her hands to control her as they tried to take her to hospital. However, it is said that she fell while being taken out of the house and hit her head on the floor. They took her to the Government Mental Health Centre at Peroorkada, from where she was referred to the Government Medical College Hospital here since she was unconscious.

However, Silvapichai and his sons took her to a private hospital at Killippalam, where she was declared dead around 11 p.m. on Wednesday. The police said neighbours accused Silvapichai and his sons of killing her, following which he was taken into custody on Thursday and is being questioned. The funeral of Adona was conducted on Thursday after an autopsy.
