VS seeks details of Technopark project

September 30, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:47 am IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan has sought publication of details regarding the agreement being signed between the State government and the U.S.-based Taurus group for setting up the Taurus Downtown Technopark at the Technopark campus here on Thursday.

In a statement here on Wednesday, Mr. Achuthanandan pointed out that 19.73 acres of land was being given to the company on 90-year lease.

The stipulation was that 70 per cent of the built-up area in the Technopark should be dedicated for IT-related activities.

The government was signing the agreement with the Taurus group violating this norm, enabling them to use a large area for setting up a trade centre and hotel.

Mr. Achuthanandan also wanted the government to publicise the identity of the shareholders of the two companies said to have been floated for setting up new facilities at the Technopark.
