CB probe into lie-detection test

May 27, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:50 am IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan has come down on the reported government decision to hold a Crime Branch (CB) probe into the disclosure of results of the lie-detection test on bar owner Biju Ramesh’s driver. In a statement here on Tuesday, Mr. Achuthanandan said the move was meant only to keep the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) under pressure and to avert filing of a charge sheet against Finance Minister K.M. Mani. There was nothing wrong in the disclosure as similar things had happened in the past as well. If the lie-detection test had produced results favouring Mr. Mani, the government would not have been so upset. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and the government should not think that they would be able to scuttle the Vigilance probe with such measures, he said.
