The district administration has decided to recommend to the State government to issue unconditional title deeds to all who had to be shifted for the International multi-purpose deepwater seaport at Vizhinjam.

All apprehensions among the local people about the rehabilitation package for those displaced for the seaport will be cleared, District Collector K. Vasuki has said.

The demands put forward by the locals regarding the beneficiary list will be sympathetically considered, the District Collector said while speaking at a meeting convened at the Collectorate here on Tuesday to discuss the rehabilitation package.

House repairs

The special tahsildar was asked to ensure that the repairs of houses damaged during piling in the project area are completed this month.

The multi-port operator, Adani Vizhinjam Port Pvt Ltd. (AVPPL), tasked with building and operating the seaport will bear the cost of the repairs, the District Collector said.

The AVPPL authorities informed that they were ready to train all those interested in the project area for taking up port-based works. Those excelling in the training would be given jobs. The District Collector said the government will be requested to issue formal orders prioritising job sectors.
