Traffic restrictions in Thiruvananthapuram during Onam

Regulations will be in force till September 11

Movement of traffic in the city from Friday will be restricted in some places while there will be diversions in others areas to avoid major traffic blocks during the Onam festival.

In a statement here on Thursday, City Police Commissioner H. Venkatesh said the restrictions and diversions would be in effect till September 11.

As part of the arrangements, traffic will not be allowed from Vellayambalam Junction to the Corporation office from 6 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. while vehicles from the Vellayambalam side towards Thampanoor/East Fort will have to go via Vazhuthacaud-Xanadu-Panavila.

Vehicles from the Thampanoor/East Fort side towards Peroorkada will have to go via RR Lamp- Nanthancode-Kowdiar.

Special arrangements have been made to extend parking facilities to the public during the festive season.

These include parking being allowed on one side of the road for stretches, including Asan Square-General Hospital, PMG-Law College road, Press Club Road, Saphalyam-Jacobs Junction road, Museum-Suryakanthi Road, Museum-Nandavanam Road, Vellayambalam- Shastamangalam Road, and Keltron-Aalthara Road.

Parking zones

Parking will be allowed on the premises of the University Office, University College, Sanskrit College, Poojapura LBS compound, Tagore Theatre compound, St. Joseph’s Higher Secondary School compound, Olympic Association Hall compound, LMS compound, Government Arts College compound, Music College compound, SMV High School compound, Attakulangara Central School compound, Fort High School compound, Attukal Devi Temple parking ground, and the Putharikandam grounds.

Parking will not be allowed on the RR Lamp-Vellayambalam Road, VJT Hall-Asan Square road, GV Raja-RR Lamp stretch, and the TTC-Nandancode road.
