The grand finale of the 12th edition of The Hindu Young World Quiz 2011, the largest quiz event in India, will be conducted on a grand scale at RDR Auditorium, Edapazhanji here, on November 14th. Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor will be the chief guest on the occasion.
Around 20,000 students drawn from 5,000 schools are competing for the top honours in the quiz contest spread over 16 centres across South India.
Regional rounds
In Kerala, the regional rounds were held in Kozhikode and Kochi on November 10 and 11 respectively.
In Thiruvananthapuram, the event will be held in the forenoon on November 14. More than 600 students from around 100 schools in the city and nearby districts will pit their wits against each other in the competition.
The grand finale will be conducted after the Thiruvananthapuram regional round wherein the winning teams of the regional rounds conducted at various centres in South India will contest for the top honours.
The Hindu Young World Quiz, a part of The Hindu –NIE Initiative, is the biggest of its kind not only in terms of students' participation, but also in terms of prizes which include a cash award of Rs.50,000, a trophy, a Nano car and lots of other prizes.
