Symposium on gene modification

The pros and cons of gene modification and its impacts on biodiversity were highlighted by speakers at a symposium held at the College of Agriculture, Vellayani, on Friday.

K. Prathapan, Director, State Horticulture Mission, inaugurated the symposium organised by the students of M.Sc. (Integrated) Biotechnology.

Dean Sverup John presided over the inaugural function and S. Shivaramakrishnan, Emeritus Scientist, Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, delivered the keynote address.

Children from schools in the city participated in competitions organised in connection with the event.
