Nearly 9,500 school students from the district will compete in various events at the four-day revenue district school arts festival that will begin at the Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Attingal, on Tuesday.

Students representing 12-educational sub-districts will compete in 286 events spread over seven categories.

Member of the Legislative Assembly B. Sathyan will inaugurate the festival in the presence of Varkala Kahar, MLA, at the GHSS, which is the main venue of the festival. Prior to the inaugural, an impressive procession will be taken out from the Industrial Training Institute to the main venue.

Najeeb A., programme committee convener, said elaborate arrangements had been made for the smooth conduct of the festival. Around 250 qualified persons had been roped in as judges for the event.

Mobile app

For the first time, participants would be given the opportunity to access the results using tvmkalolsavam, a mobile app, and from a special website launched for the festival. The results would be loaded real time on www.tvmkalolsavam.in.

The results would also be beamed live on LCD screens, which would be set up at three places at the venue, Mr. Najeeb said.

Till January 9

The festival would come to a close on January 9. Member of Parliament A. Sampath would be the chief guest and writer George Onakkoor would distribute the prizes, he said.
