The World Space Week celebrations, jointly organised by the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, the Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre, and the ISRO Inertial Systems Unit, were inaugurated here on Thursday.

K.M. Chandrasekhar, Vice Chairman, Kerala State Planning Board, and G. Sajan, Deputy Director (Programmes), Doordarshan, were guests. Mr. Chandrasekhar said the celebrations would make the common man aware of the fruits of the ISRO’s accomplishments in communications, telemedicine, tele-education, and other science missions. Untiring efforts to pursue success even after failures were a key factor in the ISRO’s success, he said. A.S. Kiran Kumar, chairman, ISRO, addressed the gathering from the organisation’s headquarters in Bengaluru through video conferencing. In connection with the celebrations, programmes related to space will be shown on the ViCTERS channel from October 4 to 10.
