Construction work on the Kazhakuttam-Muttathara sewage line will begin within a month. The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Tourism Minister Kadakampally Surendran and Water Resources Minister Mathew T. Thomas.

They intervened in the issue as construction has not begun even after the tender process was completed.

Pipeline work

Another issue discussed at the meeting was regarding the Ulloor- Prasanth Nagar-Akkulam road pipeline under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission. Although pipes have been laid for 18 km, they have not been charged. It was decided to charge these lines to end the water scarcity in Elankanvila road, Pulayanarkotta road, Breeze enclave road, Manchadi road, Sreekrishna Nagar, Sreenarayana Nagar, Lakshmi Nagar, Prasanth Nagar, Neerazhy lane, Sivasakthi Nagar, and nearby areas.

The tender proceedings for the interconnection work at Ulloor Junction have been completed. Instructions were issued to complete the work within two months. Alternative arrangements will be made as the company which had taken up the work of interconnecting pipes along the Ulloor-Prasanth Nagar road has obtained a stay order from the court.

In the previous budget, ₹10 crore was set aside to solve the water scarcity in the Kazhakuttam constituency. A drinking water tank will be installed in the Njandoorkonam ward using a part of these funds.

The work on a water tank in the Narikkal-Pullanivila road has been completed. But the tank and distribution pipes have not been charged due to the unavailability of water from the Attingal section. Steps for this will be taken within two weeks.
