‘Scuttling’ of bar bribery case

DYFI to hold dharnas tomorrow

June 30, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:51 am IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

Workers of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) will organise dharnas in front of district police headquarters on July 1 in protest against the ‘scuttling’ of the bar bribery case.

A release here on Monday said the government had sought advice from lawyers representing bar owners to scuttle the probe.

This was a challenge to the process of law. In spite of clear evidence that Finance Minister K.M. Mani took bribes, the Vigilance gave into political pressure. This would lead to the common man losing faith in the process of law.

Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala should reveal to the public the names of those who put pressure on him to scuttle the probe. The DYFI would organise agitations till the truth in the bar bribery case emerged, the press note added. — Special Correspondent
