SCT wins student project award

The SCT College of Engineering here has won the award for the best project in the CSI (Computer Society of India) -InApp National Student Project contest.

The team of Arundhati Kurup, Gopika.M, and Nevin Baiju from the college assisted by the guide Kutty Malu V.K. bagged the award for the project named Anomalous Activity Detection for Intelligent Visual Surveillance.

Rajasree M.S., Vice Chancellor, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technological University, was the chief guest at the awards ceremony held here on Sunday.

The consolation prize went to the project Air Sense from the National Institute of Science and Technology, Orissa.

The team of Aroop Kumar Gochhayat, Pankaj Kumar Patra, Aparna Devi and A.Sandhya Rani Subudhi was guided by Dr. K Hemant Kumar Reddy.

The Project named ‘Early detection of retinal diseases using deep neural networks’ from Amal Jyothi College of Engineering, Kottayam received a special mention from the jury.

The CSI-InApp National Project Award is instituted jointly by the Computer Society of India (CSI), Trivandrum Chapter, and InApp Information Technologies to identify and recognize the best software projects designed and implemented by engineering students.

This year, the event received 662 project submissions from 16 states.

The judging panel evaluated a mix of software solutions, some of which use the latest technologies such as Machine learning, Deep learning, Blockchain, IoT, and Image processing. In the final round of evaluation, 16 teams from different parts of the country demonstrated the working model of their projects.
