State Bank of Travancore (SBT) has opened a customer care centre manned by the bank’s own staff to provide better service to customers and to the public by way of information on products and services, support and guidance on banking matters, and redress of issues faced by customers.

Bank managing director Jeevandas Narayan inaugurated the facility at the LIC Complex, Pattom, on Tuesday. E.K. Harikumar, Chief General Manager (Retail Banking), and S. Adikesavan, Chief General Manager (Commercial Banking), offered facilitations at the function. Callers will be able to access the facility through the toll free number 1800 425 7733. Callers will be provided information on loan and deposit products. Other services offered include ATM card trouble shooting, Internet Banking support, Mobile banking support and receipt of complaints and grievances.

The facility will function from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on week days. Unlike call centres, ‘SBT CARE’ will be manned by staff of the bank with good banking exposure to ensure caller satisfaction. Person to person contact is another feature to ensure caller satisfaction. The bank also rolled out a missed call facility. Account holders with mobile phone numbers registered with the bank can give a missed call on the toll free number 1800 270 2525 and they will get an SMS immediately showing their account balance.
