: Technopark’s  integrated Solid Waste Management facility can be popularised across the State as a successful and scalable source-level waste management system, Minister for Information Technology P.K. Kunhalikutty has said.

Speaking after inaugurating the waste treatment plant in the Technopark campus, the Minister said the economically viable model could be replicated in every household of the State as a solution to the waste disposal problem. “Technopark’s initiatives to reduce per person waste production are also commendable and should be replicated widely,” said the Minister.

Minister for Urban Affairs Manjalamkuzhi Ali who presided over the function called for a change in the public attitude towards waste treatment plants. “Solid waste should be treated at the source level itself”, he said. The eco-friendly solid waste management system has had a successful trial run of five months. The facility set up in 50 cents land recycles 3 tonnes of solid waste every day.
