The Agency for Non-conventional Energy and Rural Technology (Anert) is setting up solar roofs under an initiative of the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and the State government.
Spot registration and promotion is under way in districts to complete the project, the first decentralised one in the country, by December 31, a release here said. The aim was to set up 10,000 solar roofs in the State.
Beneficiaries would be selected on the basis of first come, first served. Central aid to the tune of Rs.52,197 and State government’s aid for Rs.39,000 would be available to those who set up power units under the project.
The registrations in Thiruvananthapuram district would be held at the Anert headquarters, near Vikas Bhavan, on Saturday and Sunday. To register, one should bring along a photocopy of the identity card and pay a fee of Rs.500 at the office. Experts would clear doubts about the project on these days.
