The rituals associated with the re-consecration of the idol of the main deity at the Pazhavangady Ganapathy temple would be completed on February 7.

On February 2, the gold-covered idol of Ganapathy was re-consecrated amidst special rituals conducted under Devanarayanan Potti.

According to temple authorities a ‘devaprasnam' conducted last year had indicated that the main deity should be covered in gold given as offering by the temple devotees. The deity had been completed plated over in gold and the old idol cannot be seen again, the temple authorities said here.

Gold used

About five to six kilos of gold were used for this purpose, they added.

The ‘sahasrakalasa' poojas began on Friday.

The ‘abhishekam' of these ‘Kalasams' would be on February 7.

The rituals associated with the re-consecration commenced on January 23, the temple authorities added.
