The members of ‘Rangashree’, Kudumbashree’s community theatre group, are presenting a street play to take the message of rebuilding Kerala to the nook and corner of the flood-ravaged State.

The street play titled ‘Athijeevanathinte Paathayil’ presents the State’s united fight to tide over the flood crisis and the rebuilding measures to pave the way for a new Kerala. The play has already been presented in various locations in Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thirssur, Kasargode, Kozhikode, and Idukki districts.

The play is also aimed at popularising the sale of ‘Nava Keralam lottery’ issued by the State Lottery department as part of various measures to generate funds for rebuilding the State.

The script touches upon the need to rebuild basic infrastructure at the earliest. It also hails the sense of unity — beyond religious, caste, and political borders — displayed during the hour of crisis.

Rangashree will present the play in eight centres in each district. Around ninety members of Kudumbashree are part of the plays in various districts. The street plays will be presented at various places till October 2. The community theatre groups were formed after selecting talented Kudumbashree members and providing them training under accomplished artistes. The idea and the script for ‘Athijeevanathinte Paathayil’ were developed by the Rangashree members themselves. Dramatist Pramod Payyannur provided technical inputs for the play.
