The Students Federation of India on Tuesday formed a campus protection human chain from Kariavattom Junction to Ambalathinkara to protest against the State government’s move to acquire the land of the University of Kerala for implementing various schemes.

In a statement, the students’ organisation said several acres of land of the university had been acquired for various projects.

350 acres

Around 350 acres of land had been acquired for the purpose of setting up Technopark, greenfield stadium, Physical Education College, Highway Research Institute, and BSNL office.

Now the government plans to acquire 75 acres of land to set up wayside comfort station of the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation.

If the trend continues, the university would be left with no land for further expansion, the SFI said in a statement.
