Press unions blame dept.

June 12, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:43 am IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

The Kerala Government Presses Trade Union Coordination Council has said that the Education Department should own up to the delay in printing of school textbooks.

At a press meet on Thursday, the council leaders said government presses would have completed the printing had the Education Department provided the material on time. The presses were asked only on May 15 to take up part of the printing job on the assurance that the KBPS would provide the material on time. The material reached the presses only on May 22.

On June 3, the presses were told to stop printing. If the materials were provided on time and had not the government ordered stoppage of printing, the presses could have printed the whole lot before May 25.
