The district administration has adopted various precautions in view of the Indian Meteorological Department’s warning of extremely heavy rainfall for the next few days.
The District Collector has said that control rooms will function round the clock in each taluk until May 29. Relief camps will be opened if the need arose. Besides, the police have been directed to restrict travel to hilly areas from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. owing to the high possibility of landslips.
The District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) has been directed to ensure that tourists did not venture into the sea on beaches. The public has been cautioned against entering rivers and streams. Moreover, with the high chances of landslips in high-range areas, the public have been advised not to park vehicles near such areas. Vehicles must also not be parked under trees.
