Onam bonus, allowance for Kerala staff

Government sanctions festival advance of Rs.10,000 to all State employees.

The government has sanctioned Onam bonus and special festival allowance for State employees and staff of aided institutions.

An official press note said here on Tuesday that the government had also sanctioned a festival advance of Rs.10,000 to all State employees. The amount should be repaid in five equal instalments. The State employees would get Rs.3,500 as bonus. Those drawing up to Rs.18,870 or less as salary would be eligible for bonus. Those not eligible for bonus would be paid Rs.2,200 as special festival allowance.

The government also sanctioned Rs.538 crore to local government institutions to distribute social welfare pensions for February, March, and May. The local government institutions can draw the amounts in advance and such advances would not be subject to treasury restrictions. The amount would be paid to widows, spinsters aged above 50 years, and physically handicapped persons.
