The Shanghumughom Art Museum, run by the city Corporation, will play host to a two-month national contemporary art exhibition from February 3 to March 31. Fifty-six artists from across the country will participate in the exhibition based on the theme of ‘body’.

Artist M.L. Johny will curate the exhibition, which will have paintings, sculptures, and art installations.

Tourism Minister Kadakampally Surendran will inaugurate the exhibition.

Choosing the works

Mr. Johny said that the exhibition would throw light on various themes related to the human body, including its possibilities and the internal and external issues that it faces. He had travelled across India for several months, interacting with artists, before choosing the works.

A five-day beach exhibition will also be organised at Shanghumughom from February 22 to 27. Seminars with experts on various aspects of the human body, art collectors’ meet, film screening, art debates, and talks will be organised.

This is the fourth exhibition to be held at the Shanghumughom art museum, which opened in June last.
